COVID-19 Testing

COMPREHENSIVE MEDICAL CARE

for infants, children and adolescents

Exposure/positive test results
Adults/children under age 65 who do not have underlying health conditions or are not pregnant and have mild respiratory symptoms should assume they have COVID-19 and isolate accordingly.

If you have received a positive result from an at-home COVID-19 test, please isolate. You do not need another test to confirm this result. The state health order states at-home tests are acceptable for determining if you may stop isolating. Please check with your school, employer and others on their requirements.

Parents: If your child has been exposed at school but does not have symptoms, please follow your child’s school guidelines regarding testing. You do not need to contact your child’s doctor for another test.

How long to isolate
San Diego County has issued an updated health order that directs people who have or are likely to have COVID-19 to isolate for up to 10 days, regardless of vaccination status. This means you should isolate if you received a positive test for COVID-19 or have symptoms consistent with COVID-19 such as cough, shortness of breath or trouble breathing, fatigue, fever or chills, muscle or body aches, headache, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea, or a doctor has said you are likely to have COVID-19. The order has provisions for people with and without symptoms who undergo repeat testing as well as for those who do not perform a repeat test.
